The winning photo will be used on our posters and Internet site. We will also send a prize to the individual that submits the winning picture.
During the first weekend of June Malone, New York will host the 8th Annual Hendrickson Hatch Fly Fishing Tournament. Anglers are invited to come to town June 2&3, 2012 to fish one of the North Country's most productive streams, the Great Salmon River. Flowing north through Franklin County, the Salmon River drains the foothills of the Adirondacks and winds its way through the town and village of Malone before dumping into the St. Lawrence River. Interested anglers may print a mail-in brochure for registration in this year's tournament. Members of the Malone Revitalization Foundation would like to thank all sponsors for supporting this event. Please visit the links below to learn more about this year's tournament sponsors. Special thanks to Brookfield Power for being a premier sponsor for the 8th consecutive year.
River Update - May 13, 2012 - The Salmon River is currently fishing very well. Yesterday my son and I spent about 4 hours on the water. We picked up about 10 browns between 12 & 16 inches (I'm sure most of them came off a truck a few days ago), I lost one large fish (probably a solid 20 incher), and we picked up about a half dozen 8-10 inchers. The river is a little high so fish large and heavy flies to get down to the fish. There we some mayflies emerging as well as lots of smaller insects. Yesterday the larger trout completely ingnored any surface fly, but the smaller fish were grabbing dry flies. Look for conditions to be good over the next week. Happy fishing!
